So, my kids forced me into
my third viewing of “Iron Man 2”. And, by ‘forced’ I mean, I asked them if they
wanted to see “Iron Man 2”, and they said, “Yes.” My youngest boy has been
going nuts over War Machine for months. He somehow latched onto the Iron Man
spin off superhero shortly after seeing “The Avengers”, and he’s decided that
War Machine is his hero.
He approached this movie
with surprisingly reserved anticipation of his first glimpse of War Machine in
action. As the final battle commenced, the boy threw his body around the room,
trying to replicate the action on the screen. His older brother got a little
annoyed by about halfway through the scene. “Stop that! We’re trying to watch
this!” I explained that that was how I felt when they pretended to play
football right in front of the TV when I’m watching the Giants. Now, there’s
some strategery in action.
After the movie was over, I
asked the younger boy what he thought about the movie. “War Machine didn’t
really fight all that much,” he sounded disappointed.
“What do you mean? All he
did was fight, “ I offered in rebuke.
“I mean he wasn’t in it very
much!”
“Well, what do you expect?
The name of the movie is ‘Iron Man 2’ not ‘War Machine’,” I explained.
“You mean, there’s gonna be
a ‘War Machine’!!!”
